The fourth trimester is a foundational time in the life of a new family. In this period, parents can thrive with rest, care, and nurture, often hard to come by in a world that rewards productivity and individualism. We will work together to ensure you receive the care and nurture you deserve. With the right planning and practical support, parents (and siblings) can have time to rest and bond with their new baby.

With this early postpartum support package, I come in for an initial one hour session followed by three 3 hour sessions. In the first session, we’ll work together to assess your family’s most urgent needs and wishes and develop a plan for how best to meet those needs. We can work together to process your birth story, discuss breastfeeding goals and challenges, identify any referrals and resources you may need, review newborn care and sleep, discuss your nutritional needs, and develop a meal plan.

From there, I will offer the following services based on your families needs and priorities:

  • Direct nurturing care for the mother including:

    • Simple snacks and meals for postpartum nutrition

    • Setting up moments and opportunities for rest + self-care

  • Education on postpartum recovery and matrescence

  • Direct newborn care and education

    • Feeding support

    • Diapering

    • Understand cues

    • Understanding sleep + wake patterns

    • Understanding the infant nervous system

    • Babywearing support

  • Sibling care

  • Baby-related household tasks including:

    • Baby’s laundry

    • Clean and prepare bottles and pump supplies

  • Prepare and organize the home for newborn care

    • Create a calm, quiet environment for sleep and feeding

    • Develop infant-care stations and systems

  • Develop a plan to thrive

    • Engage and coordinate friends and family for ongoing support

    • Coordinate a system to ensure parent’s needs are met and self-care is achievable

  • Screen for postpartum mood and anxiety disorders

In our last session, we’ll revisit our plan for the fourth trimester and chart a path forward that will help your growing family thrive.
